LO1: Production Process

Pre-Production: planning meetings, running order, producer, DJ, guidelines and regulations.

Production: software and hardware used (Audition, cubase, prerecorded/live, sound booth,cart walls,desk, play servers

Post production: software and hardware used (Audition, Cubase, prerecorded, sound booth, cart walls).

Commercial Radio

Cart wall - holds and plays jingles, idents, sound effects etc for the show.

Play Server - a program on the computer where all music is stored, they are also different depending on what type of radio station. 

OUTPUT - digital mixing desk. DJ controls -  (volume, songs, adverts, conversation, jingle, sound effects)

WAV/FLAC - used to make radio shows etc.

Non-Linear editing packages are used to make jingles (adobe audition, sound booth, Cubase)

Lo2 - Be able generate ideas for an original audio media product

Lo1 - Understanding existing audio media products and how they are created


Podcast - is a audio media product that has been recorded perviously so the audience can download it and listen to it when ever they need or want to. Podcasts can be it an educational form or an entertaining form.

AudioBook - is a audio media product that is a reading of something that has also been recorded previously but is someone reading it to a microphone so it could be an authors novel being read out by them or celebrities.

Music - are audio media products that has been produced by an artist. This is to sell there songs and keep the audience interested.

Jingle - is a short audio media product that is played with in a radio show or advert to cause brand recognition, they are normally no more than 5 seconds long.

Radio Show - is a larger audio media product that goes out to a high number of listeners and is connected with a company or brand such as BBC.
