LO2: Get Your Funk On Summary Document

This summary document has been written by Jake McLean

NAME:
Get Your Funk On

Get your funk on is a show that features music from the 80s and 90s RnB/Soul/funk but also features the club remixes of the original tracks this connotes that the show would appeal to a much wider audience than if it just featured music from a single genre/age.

PURPOSE:
The show i am producing will inform people of good music educate about good music and entertain people with good music. I am going to do this by having old 90s and some 80s funk and soul music on the radio to cheer people up or get them ready to go out on a Saturday night by entertaining them with there favourite classics. I will inform the audience with the latest news about the artists and genre. I will also get the audience involved with phone ins with the public which will relate to subjects such as when was this song released, or what memory does this song remind you of.

CONTENT:
(Presenters) Jake McLean, Molly Keyworth, Annabel Slater are the presenters of the show, we will all have an informal style to the show and conversation it will be a relaxed but party theme to get people pumped up and ready to go out.

(Jingle) For the radio show that I produced, I will have a short jingle that will represent the themes and tones of the show. it will consist of the words "Back to the 90s" that will be sung over a backing track to cause brand recognition and make the listeners remember the show and jingle so they go back to the show.

(Interview)the interview part of the show would be taken up by phone ins from the audience, these would be live at the time and not prerecorded, the phones ins could consist of a song request or a funny fact or story about the caller which links up with the song playing or the song that is being  requested. Also the call could be for a caller entering a competition which would be live on the radio about artists or songs related to the show for example when did a certain track come out or which film was this song used in.

(Music) The music that will be played on our show is music that we will bring back from the 90s but with in a certain genre such as funk and soul. But the show will also feature modern remixes of 90s funk and soul songs for the younger listeners. I would get copyright for this radio show with a PRS license Performing Right Society - PRS works for composers, lyricists and music publishers, who are its members, to license the public performance and broadcast of copyright works, collect the license fees, assemble information about the use of that music, and then distribute the royalties.

(Adverts) Our program will feature adverts that will relate to the radio show, the first one of our adverts will be for O2 Academy Sheffield. This is because the DJ that we will feature on the show and songs that feature on the show will be heard and seen at the O2 Academy Sheffield which will benefit them and us. The Second of the Adverts are is an advert for mercury taxis which again link in with our show because the show is played just before people will go out or at a party and people that will listen to this show will be wanting a taxi to go to town or wanting one ready to leave town or go to a party or leave one. Our third Advert is for the independent record shop "Record Junkee" which is located in Sheffield. Again this links well with the show because it features records from 90s classics that will be played on the show, as well as the records linking with the DJs Mixing.

(Target Audience) I think that my product is different from the others out there because other radio shows consist of old 90s or 80s original tunes OR a DJ remix set but mine includes both therefore has a much wider target audience because it has the younger audience that likes the remixes and the older that likes the originals but as well as that it introduces the younger audiences to the original songs that the remixes came from as well as showing the remixes to the older audience. The age range for my target audience would be from 14 to 40/50 because the people that was listening to the 90s original when they were out at parties are now the older target audience and the younger target audience are the ones going out now listing to the remixes. The gender of the audience will be mixed, i don't think that any of the songs and content will be favored more by a particular gender, i think it is for all ears to listen to. In the ABC1s categorizing my audience would be C2/D because half of the audience will be teenagers that will be in education and not in full time work and the other half of my audience will be the older adults that go out to town or parties on the weekends and prefer lots of fun. I provide the gap in the market because other radio shows provide one of the other, but i provide both types of music such as 90s originals and the remixes.
